Joseph and myself took part in the 6 days and the different UCI C1 events. First track event since the World Championships in April for me, the legs needed a few days to feel good again. With 20 teams at the start, we achieved solid results between rank 7 and 9 in the Madison and made a good 3rd place in the last night’s Flying Lap. A good regularity considering the high level peloton.
Focusing on the 6 days, we did the UCI races on a saving energy mode. The crazy number of participants, between 65 and 75 riders registered and the 24 first going to the final, made the qualifications very hard. Joseph narrowly missed the qualification in the scratch and elimination while I qualified for the point race and Omnium but couldn’t do anything good in the final.
It was a great training in my winter preparation process despite a crash in the final Madison – fortunately without any serious injury. Now it’s time for some rest days before going into the specific track preparation. Next objective: The Scratch and Point Race of the Swiss Championships on August 8.
